Following the war, he worked for Northern Electric and in 1962 Bert, Lorraine and their growing family moved to Monkland where he owned and operated Monkland Egg Grading as well as serving as the Post Master of Monkland from 1965-1999. and Emma (née Lalonde) Sabourin and worked with his father as a butcher at Meloche - Sabourin in Alexandria before joining the Merchant Marine in 1945. Bert was born in Alexandria on Decemto George D. Predeceased by his siblings Daniel (Leena MacDougall), Rosanna (Arthur Giroux), Alphonse (Theresa MacDonald), Isabel – Bella (Donald MacLennan), Emily (Andre Bedard), Laurier (Marie-Reine Leduc), Rolland (Louise MacDonald), and Solomon (Ruth Lucking). Proud grandfather of Christopher (Melissa), Michael (Janna), Chantal (Marc-Andre), Jacynthe (Alex), Nathalie (Brad), Samantha, Christine, Matthew (Serena), Nicholas and Olivia and great-grandfather of 6 great-grandchildren.
